Selskar St., Wexford

In the middle of Wexford, standing poised on one leg, figuring out the tangle of angles and roofs, a crowd gathered. Someone comments “That’s very good.” This was followed by “What is it?”. Another watcher answered quickly, “It’s a street scene”.

It seems it never occurred to the onlookers that I might be actually be painting what was in front of me.

Frankly, I blame the Telly. I was painting as part of the Art in the Open Festival and there were a lot of ‘en plein air’ painters like myself around.
