Pitches made for painting
From Frances (3rd entry)
I leapt from the bedLike a kid at Christmas
And reached to embrace my prize,
But my arms in the dark remained empty,
As I blinked and blinked my eyes
And no place could I find her
Not hiding here or there
She wasn’t on the landing
Or tucked in below the stair...
And not where I thought I’d seen her,
Above me in the air...
Now that I’ve awoken
I know it was only a dream
And I sigh and I long and I ponder
How can I coax her here?
Maybe ‘twould help persuade her
If I dropped her a little line
About the company that awaits her
Here in dear Coolmine?
There’s the dog, his name is Beckham
Aging now but a lover of art
And Kitty, no ordinary puss
Is a veritable Connoisseur Cat!
She’d enjoy her sister, Solstice
Occupying pride of place
And several interesting relatives –
The collection is growing apace.
We’d make her very comfy,
Talk to her every day
And we’d leave her alone and not bother her
When she had no more to say
So ‘Lillies’ we love you!
We want you here!
We’re about to start a novena
As the day of decision draws near
Maybe we don’t deserve you -
After all you’re a beautiful belle
But I know no one else can love you
Near as much as we do
So hell!
Come on over and chance it!
We’ll have such a really great time –
And I’ll be the happiest woman on earth,
For ‘Lillies in Spring’ I am thine!
Beseech! Beseech! Beseech!
